SB 346 is the result of a 14-year public-private alliance that oversaw groundbreaking science to understand the impact of copper from automobile brake pads on water quality and aquatic wildlife in California. Passed in 2010, the law will virtually eliminate copper in automobile brake pads sold in California and throughout North America. Regarded by many to be one of the most important environmental bills of 2010, SB 346 received overwhelming bipartisan support.
