2004 Governor's Environmental and Economic Leadership Award—Watershed & Ecosystem Restoration


Sustainable Conservation, Partners in Restoration

Sustainable Conservation received the 2004 Governor's Environmental and Economic Leadership Award, the State of California's highest environmental honor. Under the Watershed and Ecosystem Restoration category, Sustainable Conservation received this award for our Partners in Restoration (PIR) Program in a highly competitive process. PIR was recognized by this award for the program's effective strategy to restore, enhance, and improve California's watersheds, while promoting sustainable economic progress. Sustainable Conservation developed PIR working with our valued partners at the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources Conservation Service and local Resource Conservation Districts.

2004 U.S. EPA Region 9—Outstanding Achievement Award


Sustainable Conservation

Sustainable Conservation received U.S. EPA Region 9's 2004 Outstanding Achievement Award that acknowledges commitment and significant contributions to the environment in California, Arizona, Nevada, Hawaii, the Pacific Islands and tribal lands. Thirty six groups and individuals were selected from over 150 nominees received this year from businesses, media, local, state and federal government officials, tribes, environmental organizations and citizen activists. Sustainable Conservation was recognized for the work of its Dairies Project and the Auto Recycling Project, as they help improve the environmental performance for their respective industries. Our work has resulted in numerous landowners and businesses becoming voluntary conservationists.

2003 California Council Environmental and Economic Balance (CCEEB) -- Edmund G. 'Pat' Brown Award


Sustainable Conservation

The California Council Environmental and Economic Balance (CCEEB) awarded Sustainable Conservation the 2003 Edmund G. 'Pat' Brown Award that recognizes an individual or organization whose activities exemplify the principles of environmental and economic balance. CCEEB is a coalition of California business, labor and public leaders who work together to advance collaborative strategies for a sound economy and a healthy environment. The award honored Sustainable Conservation's mission and success in representing the interests of both industry and the environment.

1999 Friends of the San Francisco Estuary—Outstanding Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan (CCMP) Implementation Project


Sustainable Conservation, Brake Pad Partnership

Sustainable Conservation's Brake Pad Partnership received the 1999 Friends of the San Francisco Estuary award for an Outstanding Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan (CCMP) Implementation Project. In addressing the potential role of copper from automobile brake pads in bay water quality through a collaborative stakeholder process, the Brake Pad Partnership is an integral part of the implementation of the CCMP for San Francisco Bay.
